Bret Newton is the Chief Financial Officer of Nielsen Management Co. He oversees the financial strategy, treasury operations, and capital preservation of the company’s diverse portfolio. From managing budgets and cash flow to reviewing high-value investments and ensuring tax efficiency, Newton plays a critical role in protecting and growing NMC’s assets.

Newton is a licensed CPA with over 25 years of experience in accounting and tax. He spent 17 years running his own firm and 4 years managing a family office. His profound expertise in financial planning, risk management, and cash flow strategy makes him a trusted advisor and a key contributor to NMC’s continued success.

Newton is passionate about turning financial complexity into clarity. He excels at designing detailed, future-focused financial systems that add real value and enable NMC leadership to make smart, informed decisions.  

Newton holds both his Bachelor’s of Accounting and Master’s of Taxation from the University of Utah.

Outside of work, Newton enjoys golfing, working out, and high-performance cars. He’s also a proud advocate for his son, who has Down Syndrome.
